In the quiet village near the Sutlej River in Kasur district, tragedy struck overnight. The relentless waters of the Sutlej swept through without mercy, engulfing homes and fields in a sudden deluge. Nargis Bibi, a devoted mother, fled alongside her husband and three young children, clad only in the clothes on their backs. Five to six feet of murky water was waded through in desperation, yet nothing more could be salvaged not even a single needle.
Upon their anguished return, a scene of utter devastation was confronted: the house lay shattered into ruins, and the fields that sustained their family were washed away forever. Hunger gnawed at the children for two agonizing days, their cries echoing the family’s broken hearts amid the emotional wreckage of loss and uncertainty.
Then, hope arrived in the form of the SOW team the first responders to pierce the isolation. Hot meals were distributed swiftly, quenching not just physical hunger but also the deep ache of despair. Shelter was provided, along with essential supplies worth thousands of rupees, including dry rations, clothing, to rebuild their lives while counseling sessions were offered to mend the emotional scars left by the flood.
Today, Nargis Bibi’s family stands resilient, their home reconstructed through SOW’s immediate support. Gratitude overflows from her lips: “The SOW team was our lifeline restoring our bodies, our home, and our hope.
